Crocodile by Chainsaw
This storm damaged trunk of horse chestnut was moved by Gary to a spot where I was almost out of earshot for the chainsaw near a main road in Swindon. You can see the practise face I carved with my small chainsaw on one end of it. The first thing I'd done since carving a mushroom 8 years before...

This was practise to see if I was capable of removing large amounts of material, and if I could handle the bigger size chainsaw. I didn't go into much detail as I wanted to use the timber to make smaller more detailed sculptures.

This was my first real attempt at Chainsaw carving since the mushroom in 2009. I've since completed a Turtle. An Eagle. A Hare. and a six foot high Horse head. Jaguar
